guess who is back?
Portals Zine is back...

Well, after a year hiatus and many changes we've decided to regroup, partner up again and bust out another issue of Portals Zine. Joleen and I have both really jumped into art journaling and decided to switch it up and create a publication based on that. While we will be featuring all kinds of journals, we both are really attracted to edgier journals so I think this will be an exciting issue. Please consider sending in images of your work, journals, books, etc.

WANTED!

WANTED: I am looking for a guest columnist to review "In This House" for the upcoming issue of Portals Zine. You must own the book (or check it out from your library) and be able to provide a well written review to fill one page. If you are interested, please email me: heather@portals-zine.com. The columnist will receive a complimentary issue of Portals v 6.

Cheers!!

BACK ISSUES!!

As promised I posted a bunch of back issues on Etsy last night. There was a flurry of activity even as I was listing them. Eye Candy went quickly but I might have a few more stashed around some where. My studio is literally a pit right now. I am trying to get rid of stuff. I am tired of being disorganized and messy and cluttered in life and mind. There are still some available of all the other issues for the time being.
Also, I have decided to now offer all issues and future (?) issues thru my Etsy shop as it is easier for me to manage inventory and shipping with that tool in place.

Thanks!!

BACK ISSUES!!

For those of you Portals readers who were interested in Back Issues of PORTALS and EYE CANDY. The time has finally come. I know I promised this about a month ago but I. HAVE. BEEN. BUSY!! Wow.. school, work, Portals, life.. it sure adds up to conspire against your free time doesn't it?
Anyway, since PayPal doesn't appear to have any way to manage the quantity of items available and I can't get into the site fast enough to update I will be listing the Zines on MY PERSONAL ETSY shop. They will go live on the evening of Wednesday, September 19 to be fair to all. Quantities are extremely limited and I have no plans to reprint anything at this point so if you are missing something, do not delay.
As far as issue 6 goes, yes, I am way behind my "non-deadline". I am still in need of HOME related art, tutorials, articles, ideas!!! Help!!! PLEASE send stuff in so I can fill 'er up.

Submission deadline extended and back issues for sale.
Because I have been so busy lately I have decided to extend the submission deadline for the HOME issue to September 5. Please visit the the CALLS page for details and the SUBMISSIONS page for formatting and submission guidelines.

In addition, Shosh & Mike are back from Art Unraveled. I hear there was a mob scene at their booth during vendor night and they have not inventoried everything back into stock yet. My point being that I sent all back issues of Portals and Eye Candy with them. Once I get a count on what is left I will be posting the back issues for sale on the website so if you are missing and issue, this will be your chance.

Hope everyone has enjoyed their summers and is squeezing out every last day before school returns ( the 5th here)

Cheers
Heather

July update...
Hi all,
I wanted to share a bit of exciting news with you all. Issue #5 has been so well received with lots of word of mouth that I have just had to order a THIRD printing! So, if you recently ordered, please be patient while I wait for them to come in and get them bound. If you order both issues 4 & 5 together they will ship when the 5's come in. Thank you to everyone for your support and patience as I have tackled this project on my own.
Also, I have had MANY inquiries as to ordering BACK ISSUES of volumes 1-3 and Eye Candy. I have decided to release my stock on back issues in Mid-August. I promised them to Shosh at Hannah Grey for her vendor booth at Art Unraveled first and then I will be posting them on Portals-Zine.com for everyone to purchase upon her return around the 16th. I will post here the day before they go up for sale. Some issues are extremely limited so please check in early for best selection.

Finally, I am mapping out issue #6, the HOME issue and as always in need of artwork and articles so please send them in!! Submission guidelines may be found here.

Phheeeeeew!!
Great news and great news!!

First of all, as of today I am completely caught up on orders. There are no orders in my box AT ALL so woot woot for me! If you are waiting for issues 4 or 5, please begin stalking your mail man and don't email me for at least a week :). The feedback on issue #5 has been great. Thanks for those of you who have taken the time to write and let me know how much you like it. It really means a lot to me.

The other piece of news is also very exciting but to a smaller number of you. I have finally received the missing Portals fatbook pages from Joleen so that project is back on track. Unfortunately, I only have 8 sets of pages out of 30 so I am looking for fill ins. If anyone is interested in doing some pages I would love to have you. The pages I have are really great and it should be a wonderful book.

Although I JUST finished #5 I am thinking about #6- the HOME issue. Please consider sending in artwork and article ideas so it is as great as the current issue.

errata

Yeah, they haven't even hit the mailbox and my hubster noticed a boo boo. Shoot...
Anyway, page 14, the first page of the MuseƩ, SHOULD have credits for the work shown as follows:
Danielle Muller, Marilyn Healey and Gail Cowan. I'm so sorry gals!

Production continues on Portals v 5. I am so glad I decided to go the stapler route!!! It has really sped up the process for this one woman show. I can actually even sort of feel my right arm!! Hannah helped stuff envelopes for all of about 5 minutes. (you can see the little pile in the green box) Our director of production is a hard task master.. she gave me the glare eye when I paused to take a picture to prove to you all that I AM WORKING ON THEM!! I am off to make address labels.. watch your mailboxes!!!!

a quickie update
Just a note to say my shipping has been help up by a mis-print on one page. Its involves advertisers so I HAVE to fix it. It will be re-printed tonight. Due to the hold up and uber fat size of this issue I am seriously considering stapling them. Would everyone totally hate that???

May update
Hi Gang...
Things are going well and 5 is closer to DONE than not. It looks like its going to be one tubby issue! I have to thank several friends for their help in adding to this issue since Joleen went missing and left me high and dry on her part of the content. Amber Dawn, Sharon and Martha all chipped in with fun tutorials and the fab Alma also came through at the last minute. I tell ya its very handy having some talented friends and I appreciate them all so very much. Tracie Lyn Huskamp was instrumental in pushing me through the doubt stages and also helping me with some of the design of this issue.

Now that I cam caught up on all shipping, I will be posting it for pre-sale this weekend. Incidentally, with all the catch up I have been doing issues #1 and 2 are completely sold out. I will not be reprinting these issues so they will be offered as PDFs on the "Buy It" page just as soon as I figure out how to do that. My computer guy, Mike is helping me out. When the other issues sell out they will also be offered for download.

Thanks everyone for your support. Oh, Blogger is really bad about letting me know if there are comments so if you need to contact me, please email : submissions@portals-zine.com.
